Entering College With Confidence

July 21st - August 13th

Starting college is exciting—but it can also feel overwhelming. This 8-week program helps students build the practical skills and confidence they need to navigate new challenges, advocate for themselves, and feel at home on campus.

Why I Created This Program

Over the years, I've worked with students who were more than capable of succeeding in college. They had earned their acceptance, worked hard in high school, and were excited for what came next.

But I also saw many students struggle with the transition—not because they weren't intelligent, but because they were suddenly expected to manage new responsibilities, advocate for themselves, build new relationships, and navigate challenges without the support systems they had always relied on.

I created Entering College With Confidence to help students prepare for those moments before they happen. My goal is to help students begin college with practical strategies, greater confidence, and a strong foundation for navigating the academic, social, and emotional challenges of this new chapter.

Students will develop the skills and build the confidence needed to manage responsibilities, make thoughtful decisions, solve everyday problems, and navigate college with independence.

By developing practical skills, preparing for real-life challenges, and recognizing their own strengths, students will approach college with greater confidence in their ability to navigate what's ahead.

Emotional Awareness

Executive Function Strategies

Students will gain a deeper understanding of their emotions and develop practical strategies for managing stress, navigating change, and responding to challenges effectively.

Students will develop practical strategies for planning, organization, time management, prioritization, and follow-through to support success both inside and outside the classroom.

Week 1 - Building The Foundation

Session 1: Getting to Know Each Other

Students will engage in discussion to form connections with one another, share their prior knowledge on program topics, and begin building a supportive community where they feel comfortable sharing, asking questions, and learning together. Students will create preliminary goals for themselves in this session.

Session 2: Preparing for the Transition

Students will gain a deeper understanding of how they respond to stress, change, and new environments while identifying the strengths, habits, and supports that will help them thrive in college. Students will also use this session to finalize their preliminary goals from session 1 so that they have a clear path forward.

Week 2 - Burnout Prevention

Session 3: Understanding Stress & Overwhelm

Students will learn to recognize early signs of stress, understand what tends to throw them off balance, and explore strategies for managing challenges before they become overwhelming.

Session 4: Planning Ahead For Challenges

Rather than simply reacting to difficult situations, students will develop personalized plans for navigating common college experiences such as homesickness, academic pressure, roommate conflicts, and balancing competing responsibilities.

Week 3 - Building Relationships

Session 5: Boundaries & Self-Advocacy

Students will practice communicating their needs, setting healthy boundaries, and advocating for themselves in academic, social, and residential settings.

Session 6: Finding Your People

We'll explore strategies for building friendships, navigating roommate relationships, finding a sense of belonging, and creating a support system on campus.

Week 4 - Systems for Success

Session 7: Creating Balanced Routines

Students will develop practical systems for managing time, staying organized, balancing responsibilities, and prioritizing self-care throughout the semester.

Session 8: Putting It All Together

The final session brings everything together. Students will reflect on their growth, create a personalized college success plan, and leave with practical tools, increased confidence, and a roadmap for navigating their first semester.

Take your aspirations and break them down into tiny behaviors. Embrace mistakes as discoveries and use them to move forward.

Meet Your Coach

Hi, I'm Jessica!

I'm a Certified School Psychologist and Executive Functioning Coach, and for years I've had the privilege of supporting students as they navigate some of life's biggest transitions. I've seen firsthand that success in college isn't just about academics—it's about learning how to manage stress, advocate for yourself, build meaningful relationships, and feel confident navigating new experiences.

I created Entering College With Confidence because I wanted students to have a space to slow down, ask questions, connect with others, and build the practical and emotional skills that will support them long after orientation is over.

My goal is simple: to help students feel more prepared, more confident, and more like themselves as they begin this exciting new chapter.

Give Them a Strong Start

While no program can prepare students for every experience, the right support can help them approach this next chapter with greater confidence, resilience, and independence.
